Bio

Paul-David Lutz is a rural development advisor turned ethnographer with a longstanding focus on the uplands of northern Laos. He holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of Sydney and has taught medical anthropology, ethnographic fieldwork methods, Southeast Asian politics and the anthropology of food at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University.

Paul-David joined LAMC in 2023, as a postdoctoral researcher for the ERC-funded project SeedsValues: Value Creation and Relatedness in Agrobiodiversity Hotspots. Currently, Paul-David is based at LAMC as a postdoctoral researcher (Chargé de recherches) of the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (F.R.S.-FNRS). His research project focuses on the interplay of animist cosmology, secularization and agrarian transition among ethnic Khmu in market-Leninist Laos.
