Ferlie Rose Ann Famaloan is a medical anthropologist and development practitioner with expertise in public health and health systems. Holding a double Master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies from KU Leuven and Medical Anthropology from the University of the Philippines, Ferlie brings a nuanced understanding of health, culture, and social equity to her work.
She is currently pursuing her PhD at Hiroshima University under the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research explores the healthcare access of aging Filipino migrant workers in Japan and Belgium through the lens of biological citizenship. By examining how migrants navigate healthcare systems across transnational contexts, her work aims to shed light on the intersections of migration, health, and identity in later life.
