Bio

Mimy KEOMANICHANH is an anthropologist with a PhD from Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. Drawing on multi-sited ethnographic research, her doctoral dissertation examines heterosexual Belgian-Laotian couples residing in Belgium and Laos. This research introduces the concept of "emotional scripts" as an analytical framework for understanding the intimate negotiations and emotional experiences of these couples.
She is currently a postdoctoral researcher on the AspirE project, in which she analyses the (non-)migration decision-making processes of Asian migrants in Belgium through social network mapping (Network Canvas) and video diaries.

Research interests: conjugality, emotions, gender and nation, marriage migration (between Laos and Western Europe)
