Maria (Mariia) Erofeeva is a social scientist interested in how technologies mediate human action with expertise in the fields of video-mediated communication, science and technology studies, and human-computer interaction. Her current focus is on virtual reality (VR) technologies. In 2018, she founded the Virtual Reality Laboratory in Moscow, Russia, one of the only interactional laboratories of its kind in the world at the time (now closed). At the moment she is doing postdoctoral research at the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie des Mondes Contemporains of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She is currently focusing on the phenomenology of social VR experience, virtual embodiment, and immersive and accessible learning in VR. She has experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with businesses on topics related to cutting-edge technologies, including VR and AI.
