Dear PhD Candidates, Postdoctoral Researchers,

As we begin the 2026 academic year, we would like to wish you a productive year filled with stimulating and constructive exchanges.

This reminder is to invite you to the first LAMCafé session, which will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Doucy Room (S12.234).

This session will be a French-language writing workshop facilitated by Fleurine Hermand.

Note of Intention for the Writing Workshop : This is neither an occasion to engage in debate, nor to defend an author or justify a particular line of thought. Rather, it is an opportunity to write and to create a space for exchange among peers. This somewhat unusual exercise, which is still relatively uncommon within the university setting, draws inspiration from literary and poetry writing workshops while situating them within the field of the social sciences. My aim is to offer a writing workshop that combines the pleasure of writing with reflection in the social sciences. The texts produced during the workshop will serve as a basis for discussion and may also contribute to your own research projects. In short, the workshop seeks to provide a space for reflection outside the well-trodden paths of factual knowledge production and presentation. It encourages a form of writing that is not subject to judgment. There is nothing to prepare beforehand. Simply bring something to write with; all types of writing media are welcome.

This session will be followed by a shared lunch offered by LAMCafé. If you would like to attend, please register using the following form:

What is LAMCafé?

Our seminar series began during the 2024-2025 academic year under the name Unveil the Kitchen. It evolved during 2025-2026 into the LAMC Collective Workshops and is now called LAMCafé (PhD and Post-Doc Workshops). Its purpose is to create a space for discussion, mutual support, and knowledge sharing on cross-cutting issues that concern many of us. Meetings are held once a month, typically on a Wednesday during lunchtime (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.). LAMCafé is designed primarily for the PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers of our laboratory.

See you soon,

Fleurine
on behalf of LAMCafé
